Maria Sofia Meirelles
Digital and Marketing Consultant

Originally from Portugal, Maria Sofia Meirelles moved to Cambridge in 2019 to pursue an MA in Graphic Design and Typography at Anglia Ruskin University. She has built her career around a passion for visual storytelling and a belief in the power of creativity to connect people, communicate ideas and bring organisations’ stories to life.
Maria has developed a broad range of creative skills across graphic design, photography, videography and illustration, complemented by experience gained through workshops, short courses and voluntary work with organisations including CLIC Sargent, NSPCC, CamSight, U-Now and the United Nations. These experiences have given her an understanding of working with diverse communities and organisations across different sectors.
Prior to establishing her freelance career, Maria spent four years working with Bell Educational, where she developed a strong understanding of the education sector and the role that effective visual communication plays in engaging audiences and communicating an organisation's purpose.
Today, Maria works independently with schools, businesses and organisations, helping them communicate their ideas, vision and stories through creative design, photography, videography and illustration. Her work combines creative thinking with an understanding of the people, purpose and audiences behind each project.
Maria is passionate about using creativity to make a meaningful difference. She believes effective creative work should not only look good, but communicate with purpose, reflect the people and stories behind an organisation, and help it connect more effectively with its communities.
